As part of the 14th Provincial Sports Games organized by Administration of Sports of Guangzhou Municipality and the Sports Federation of Guangzhou Municipality, the 3rd Guangzhou Sports Festival kicked off on the morning of June 9th at the South Square of the Tianhe Sports Center.  As well as the traditional sports a mass body-building exhibition and campaign were included.

With the 2008 Summer Olympic Games to be held in Beijing and 2010 Asian Games to be held in Guangzhou, the 3rd Sports Festival, which will last for a month, is of great significance. This and other such great sports events will encourage more citizens to attend mass athletic and body-building campaigns. 

There are 41 events, including arm wrestling, Taiji and table tennis with more than 34 sports associations attended this sports festival.
