On April 12, the Egyptian Ambassador to China Mahmoud Allam announced in Guangzhou that Egypt Air will inaugurate its Guangzhou-Cairo direct flight on June 2. The flight time is to be shortened to 11 hours, and the fare is expected to be lower.
Mahmoud Allam also said, "We are considering opening a Consulate General in Guangzhou." The formalities for the people of Guangzhou to go to Egypt will be simplified. They will be able to apply for their visas in Guangzhou and will not need to go to Beijing, Shanghai or Hong Kong.
There will be three flights per week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and the latest Boeing 777-200 wide-bodied aircraft is to be used. The flights will take off at 20:55, stopping at Bangkok, Thailand, and will arrive in Cairo at 5:30 local time the next day. The total flight time will be 11 hours.
