Huizhou natural gas power plant, which starts construction yesterday (Sep 23) morning, vows to generate power without deteriorating the surrounding environment.
Daya Bay, a world-class petrochemical zone, has a batch of projects invested by CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Co., Ltd (CSPC). Huizhou natural gas power plant, one of these projects with investment of 10 billion yuan, will have a capacity of 3060 mega-watt.
After the power plant put into production in April, 2007, the bottleneck of increasing power consumption in Daya Bay is to be tackled.
It is reported that power generated by burning natural gas has low pollution, with the emission volumes of carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides accounting for just 42% and 20% of those of burning coal respectively.
