French poems and literary masterpieces will enlighten the China-France Cultural Season, an annual exchange event that will fall on April 12 in Beijing this year, sources with the French Embassy to China said Saturday (Feb 24).

During the two-month event, Chinese people amoured with the French language and culture can attend a performance of the Little Prince and readings of the works of famous French poets.

"The activities are those with a strong interest in the French language," said a French embassy official. He noted that with the improvement of China-France ties, especially since the two countries jointly held China-France Culture Year, Chinese young people have become increasingly interested in French literature and films.

The embassy official said, the China-France Culture Season will be held in Shanghai, Dalian, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Wuhan, and will include visual arts, jazz, classical music, opera, dance and films.
