The photos of Cao Baiyi, a Chinese American, always impress us with their simplicity and peace. Though Mr. Cao is not a  philosopher, philosophy, especially Chinese traditional philosophical thought, greatly influences his life, ideas on Photography and photos. He said that the "quietness and peace" of his works came from his love for Laozi (an ancient Chinese thinker), Dao De Jing (a book of Laozi) and Taoist thought.
