Shenzhen's market-oriented reform in public utilities won a national top prize Wednesday (Mar. 24), local media reported.
The prizes for regional government innovation, announced in Beijing, were awarded by academic institutions including those under the Compilation and Translation Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Beijing University.
A total of 245 projects were entered for the prizes and 18 won awards. Shenzhen was among the top 10 prize winners.
At the center of Shenzhen's reform was the successful international bidding for co-management in five State-owned enterprises under the municipal government in water supply, energy, gas, food processing and public buses. Supervision of public utilities was also reformed and enhanced.
