After the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) signed between Chinese Mainland and Macao, the Macao-Zhuhai Industrial Park, a bold attempt, saw its foundation laid at the end of last year and started construction on March 28th this year.
By now, many investors show interests in the park and queue up for land renting, which is beyond our expectation, says Wang Lin, director of Zhuhai free trade zone.
Wang reveals that an area of more than 50% of the park in Zhuhai has been let to Macao's investors.
The cross-border industrial park is designed to be a bold zone to break the economic barrier between Zhuhai and Macao, as well as Portuguese-speaking countries.
The park will be built into an international export base to face the markets of EU, Portuguese-speaking countries.
The industrial park covers 400,000 square meters of reclaimed seashore. Half the land reclamation area is in Zhuhai and half in Macao, separated by water with a bridge linking the two areas.
