Govt. agencies to recruit HK talents
Latest Updated by 2004-07-30 09:35:49

A total of 51 government agencies would provide 219 vacancies for Hong Kong professionals at a job fair to be conducted by the Shenzhen government at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on Aug. 8, organizers said.

"Many government agencies have planned to use the job fair to attract overseas talents, improve management and service standards and boost the employment system reform," said Vice Mayor Chen Yingchun.

The 219 vacancies include 35 senior consultants and advisers in various fields, 13 senior government employees and 171 ordinary government employees.

With an annual salary of 500,000 yuan (US$60,000), the highest offer for participating government agencies, the city's CDC planned to recruit two senior managers, organizers said.

"Generally, the monthly salary for ordinary government employees won't go beyond 5,000 yuan, and the salary standard for senior government employees, senior consultants and expert advisers will be determined by the city government," said Yin Yaotang, a spokesman with the Shenzhen Municipal Personnel Bureau.

Organizers refused to disclose more details concerning salaries and other benefits for positions such as senior government employees, senior consultants and expert advisers.

By Monday, a total of 275 Shenzhen firms and government agencies had signed up for the job fair with more than 3,600 vacancies.

The Kingkey Group, a real estate company, would be seeking a CEO, offering an annual salary of US$500,000, the highest of its kind at the job fair, organizers said.
